About

Genealogy Tales UK

As a Professional Genealogist, based in the Chilterns in the UK, I have been researching family and local history for over twenty five years: for my own family history and for many years for clients who have ancestry in the English county of Buckinghamshire or Bucks as it is commonly known. After living in the Chilterns for over thirty years I discovered my own ancestry in the county, which was a great bonus, and located only a few miles from my now home!

During my many years as a family and local historian I have discovered some fascinating and intriguing stories connected to not only Bucks but far beyond, and the purpose of this blog – Genealogy Tales UK is to share some of those stories. Some of the stories are rooted in the county, others began there but led to locations far and wide. Others are connected to my own family history. The tales are all over one hundred years old, and all information discovered can be found in the public domain. The stories are not linked to any particular living individuals, and I have categorised them in time eras.

On a personal note my historical interest in my home county is its history in the early modern period (mid fifteenth century to early eighteenth century) and the nonconformity that seemed pervasive in the county during this era, especially in the Chilterns. One branch of my family tree in Buckinghamshire can be traced back to the early sixteenth century.

Many of the articles in this Blog will reflect these interests and more.

And, if you would like help researching your own family tales please contact me via my main website Bucks Ancestral Research at  https://bucksancestors.co.uk for a schedule of my Fees, Terms and Conditions.
